The Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs) of the Highlands Subdivision Homeowners Association requires that the homeowner request approval from the Board of Directors prior to doing any exterior modifications and/or additions to your home or property.
The review process ensures that property values are maintained and the character of the neighborhood is preserved. Some examples of modifications needing approval are:
- Room Additions
- Decks and fences
- Changes of exterior colors of your home
- Playground Equipment
- Basketball goals
- Satellite dishes
- Major landscaping
Please remember that homeowners are required to submit a plat map with a drawing of where the architecture will be placed with respect to boundary lines, easements, etc. To obtain a plat map, please visit the link below.

To request architectural approval for your project, complete the Architectural Approval Request form and remit to the Board of Directors by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by mailing to: PO Box 1695 Bloomington, IN 47402.
Additional instructions and guidelines are provided on the form.
Review the architectural guidelines in our CC&Rs prior to planning any project. If you are not sure that your work requires architectural review, contact the Board of Directors via email, email@example.com
Most requests will be discussed and voted on at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.
Tip: If you do not have a way to scan your completed Architecture From don’t worry! There is an app called Genius Scan that allows you to take a picture of the completed form with your smart phone and converts the picture to a PDF document. Then you can email the document to the address on the form. The app is available for both iOS and Android.
